Shavel Sowell Wins 2017 Title

Los Angeles, CA - On Sunday September 3, 2017 Shavel Sowell representing the district of Cayo in Belize captured the title of Miss Belize California. Four young ladies competed for several crowns. Ms. Belize Independence, won by Victoria Taylor, representing Cayo; Queen of the Bay California, won by Diamond Pinelo, representing Stann Creek; Miss Belize California 2018, won by Shanicka Augustine, representing Punta Gorda. Shanicka will be officially crowned after Shavel reign is complteted. The next pageant will not be until 2019.
Shavel, is a published model, actress and activist. Her goal and platform issue is to mentor young girls, especially girls in the foster care system and let them know that a prosperous future is very possible.
One place Shavel said would like to visit is Africa, just to experience where her African heritage came form.
Shavel will be making appearances through out Southern California in the coming weeks and plan to go to Florida in October to participate in the Caribbean Festival. We wish her an amazing and good year in her reign as Miss Belize California.
